 FAQs

We’ve gathered some common questions to help make your trip and celebration as seamless as possible. If there’s anything we missed, don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re here to help!

Wedding ceremony

  • We’d love for you to dress up and celebrate with us in style! Our dress code is black-tie optional, which means:

    • Tuxedos and formal gowns are welcome, but not required.

    • Dark suits, cocktail dresses, or other semi-formal attire are perfectly appropriate.

    • At minimum, we ask that guests dress semi-formally—think polished and festive.

The event will be entirely indoors, so no need to worry about the weather. If you plan to hit the dance floor (which we hope you do!), feel free to bring a pair of comfy sneakers or flats to change into—your feet will thank you by the end of the night.

  • To RSVP please use this link to RSVP by December 1st 2025.

  • The Julia Morgan Ballroom is located in the heart of downtown San Francisco at 465 California Street, inside the historic Merchants Exchange Building.

    Public Transport:

The Julia Morgan is about a 10 minute walk from Embarcadero BART.

    Parking Options:

    • Garage Parking: The closest garage is the Merchants Exchange Garage at 155 Sansome Street, just around the corner from the venue. Other nearby garages include:

      • Stockton/Sutter Garage (444 Stockton St)

      • Embarcadero Center Garages (entrances along Clay, Sacramento, and Front Streets)

    • Street Parking
Street parking in the Financial District is more available on weekends, and many metered spots are free on Saturdays—but always read posted signs carefully to confirm. Some areas still have restrictions or tow-away zones, and trust us, you don’t want to get your car towed on wedding day.

    • Rideshare & Drop-off
Uber, Lyft, or a taxi is a great option if you’d prefer to skip parking altogether. You can be dropped off right in front of the building on California Street.

  • It is to be determined if children will be able to attend the wedding ceremony; however, they are more than welcome to the remainder of the event.

For plus ones, send their first and last name + email address to itsgoingdownyall@gmail.com so they can be added to the guest list.

Travel

  • Do I need any vaccinations to travel to the U.S.?

There are no mandatory vaccinations to enter the U.S. from Nigeria unless you are transiting through a country with a yellow fever risk. Still, it's a good idea to be up to date on:

    • Yellow fever ((no longer required for entry, but recommended)

    • COVID-19 (no longer required for entry, but recommended as the U.S.A. has more cases than Nigeria)

    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)

    • Tetanus

Do I need a visa to travel to the U.S?
Yes — Nigerian passport holders need a visa to enter the U.S You'll most likely apply for a B1/B2 visitor visa (for tourism or attending a personal event like a wedding).

    1. Complete the DS-160 form

      • Fill this out online: https://ceac.state.gov/CEAC

      • Once submitted, print the confirmation page — you’ll need it for your appointment.

    2. Pay the visa fee

      • The fee is around $185 USD (you'll pay in Naira, based on the current exchange rate). Instructions will be available on the visa application site.

    3. Schedule your appointment

      • Visit: https://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng

      • You’ll book two appointments:

        • One at a Visa Application Center (VAC) for fingerprints and a photo

        • One at the U.S. Embassy (Abuja) or Consulate (Lagos) for your visa interview

    4. Gather your documents You’ll typically need:

      • A valid passport (at least 6 months before expiration)

      • DS-160 confirmation page

      • Visa appointment confirmation

      • 2x2 inch passport photo (white background)

      • Bank statements or financial support documentation

    Additional Tips

    • Apply for your visa well in advance — ideally 2 to 3 months before your trip, as appointment slots can fill up quickly.

    • Be confident and truthful in your interview.

    • If you need any support with paperwork, logistics, or just moral support — we’re here to help.

    • When you arrive, you’ll go through U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Have your passport, visa, and wedding invitation on hand in case you're asked about the purpose of your visit.

  • How do I get from the airport to my accommodation?
You can use applications like Uber and Lyft to get from the airport to your accommodation. Taxis are also available at the airport though this option may be more expensive.

What is the best time to arrive?
You can arrive at any time though there will be more taxis if you arrive during the day.

How will I get around for the duration of my trip?
You will use applications like Uber or Lyft or you can rent a car if you have a driver’s license. The State of California does not recognize an International Driving Permit (IDP) as a valid driver license. California does recognize a valid driver license that is issued by a foreign jurisdiction (country, state, territory) of which the license holder is a resident.

  • Open our Google Sheet for a packing list—clothing, toiletries, and must-have documents included. Mark, pack, and you’re ready to go!

  • San Francisco is a beautiful and welcoming city, but like many major urban areas, it has its quirks—especially when it comes to petty crime. Car break-ins are unfortunately common, so please don’t leave anything visible in your car, even for a quick stop. If you're renting a car, empty it completely or use the trunk discreetly before you reach your destination.

Also, be mindful of your phone and personal belongings, especially in busy areas or while using public transportation. It’s a good idea to keep your phone tucked away in a secure pocket or crossbody bag when not in use.

We do not recommend that tourists visit the Tenderloin or Civic Center areas without a very clear purpose or plan. These neighborhoods have historically faced significant challenges and may feel overwhelming or unsafe to those unfamiliar with the city.

That said, there’s so much to enjoy in San Francisco—beautiful parks, iconic landmarks, and great food in walkable, vibrant neighborhoods. If you stick to the recommended areas and take basic precautions, you’ll have a wonderful time.
