Her Story
Andrewnet grew up in Oakland, one of the most diverse cities in the United States. This culturally rich environment sparked her interest in languages and sociolinguistics, leading her to solo travel to nine countries to improve her French and Spanish skills.
She earned a B.A. in Linguistics & French from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where she became the first multilingual person and first-generation college graduate in her family, as well as one of the most well-traveled.
Today, Andrewnet works with Washington State's Department of Social & Health Services, where she combines human-centered design, technology, and policy to roll out a statewide benefit. Outside of work, she organizes French and Spanish meetups in San Francisco, practices yoga and Pilates, and spends time with loved ones outdoors.
His Story
Olaoluwa's journey began in Nigeria, from where he immigrated to the United States at the age of 5. His cross-country adventure took him through Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Ohio, and Texas before finally landing in California, where he attended the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB).
After earning both his B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science from UCSB, Olaoluwa set his sights on San Francisco. There, he co-founded Lightning Labs, a Bitcoin financial services company, where he serves as the Chief Technology Officer.
When he's not immersed in the world of bits and bytes, Olaoluwa indulges his passion for jazz. With a particular affinity for bebop and hard bop, he not only appreciates the rich history of the genre but also plays the alto saxophone himself.
Their Story
In the summer of 2020, like a true 21st-century romance, Andrewnet and Olaoluwa met on Tinder. After two virtual dates, Olaoluwa planned a socially distanced date in Golden Gate Park, where he would later propose. They discovered early on a shared love for a wide range of music and their missed connections at the same concerts in the past.
Olaoluwa’s vast knowledge and open-mindedness immediately enamored Andrewnet. Andrewnet’s beauty and discerning intellect drew Olaoluwa in. You can often find them engaging in wide-ranging discussions, from the impact of artificial intelligence on their everyday lives to strategies for their favorite video games.
They share their early twentieth century Edwardian apartment with a spoiled 4-year-old miniature English Bull Terrier named Riley.
